The main singer of the hard rock band Nazareth, DAN MCCAFFERTY, who provided the vocals for the 1970s rock anthems "Love Hurts" and "Hair of the Dog," passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 8, for an undisclosed reason.He was 76.

Pete Agnew, the bassist for Nazareth, posted on Instagram to confirm McCafferty's passing.

Along with Agnew, guitarist Manny Charlton, and drummer Darrell Sweet, McCafferty was a founding member of the band Nazareth when it was established in Dunfermline, Scotland, in 1968.

With the release of their third album, Razamanaz, in 1973, the group achieved success in the U.K. The following year, they put out Loud and Proud.

The 1975 album Hair of the Dog by Nazareth featured the song "Love Hurts," which reached No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 despite the records' relative obscurity in the United States.
